Facilities have been established promoting research capacity within the programme, College of Medicine and the national Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. These include:
1. Nursing and Clinical facilities
Our Nursing & Clinical department is headed by a highly qualified Nurse Manager and has a team of trained research nurses and clinicians who provide both technical support and clinical car for our studies.
Within the department, MLW runs research laboratory in the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, a high dependency ward (with Xray facility and clinical laboratory) within the Department of Paediatrics, an endoscopy suite in the Department of Medicine and a bronchoscopy facility which has allowed us to retrieve alveolar macrophages (AM) from individuals with a variety of infections.2. Additionally the programme has a Clinical Diagnostics, Tissue Culture and Molecular Biology laboratories within its office building. 3. MLW also has an established data and statistics department which provides comprehensive statistical and data processing services for our research studies
