Public Engagement is an integral part of MLW’s research strategy. As Science Communication, we exist to promote ethical research practice by facilitating two-way engagement strategies between researchers and research participants, through initiatives that empower communities to make informed contribution towards research.
What is our Vision?
MLW is currently one of the leading and exemplar major overseas programme within the field of public engagement and we plan to use this status to lead in sharing our success stories and best practise both locally and internationally as we lead the way in the development of science communication in Malawi.
What is our Core business?
Our departmental strategy has two arms which are (a) Public & Community Engagement and Media Engagement and (b) Internal and External Communications. Our current strategy support both programme wide and study specific public and community engagement initiatives.
Who is in our team?
Our team is comprised of well-experienced expertise in different fields including; the Science Communication Manager, Public/Community Engagement Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Media Engagement Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator, Community Engagement and Exhibition Officer who are all based at the Learning and Training Centre of MLW and the Public and Community Engagement Officer who is based in Chikwawa.
