Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Trust is a research unit within the College of Medicine, University of Malawi. We conduct research on locally important diseases, working in collaboration with Departments of the College of Medicine (COM), University of Malawi. Work is based in wards and clinics of the Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital, in Health Centres and communities in peri-urban or rural areas, and in the laboratories of MLW and COM. A major emphasis of the programme is to train both Malawian and international staff.

We maintain strong scientific and administrative links with the University of Liverpool, UK (via the Wellcome Trust Tropical Centre), and encourage other collaborations with centres of excellence in the region and worldwide.
